【Collaborative Discussions between PUMM and UTAR】

On 30th June 2023, Malaysian Entrepreneurs Development Association (PUMM) had the privilege to visit Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Sungai Long Campus, marking an important step towards fostering collaboration between PUMM and UTAR.

The meeting commenced with introductions from both sides, followed by a warm welcome speech delivered by Ir. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, President of UTAR. Mr. Tan Lay Seong, PUMM National President, then introduced PUMM’s visionary goals and highlight their commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and cultivating a supportive ecosystem for budding business leaders to thrive.

The primary focus of the discussions revolved around exploring potential areas of collaboration between PUMM and UTAR. Several proposals were put forth, including the organization of entrepreneur talks and classes, offering internship and industrial training opportunities, inviting PUMM speakers for graduating students, providing soft skills training to students, facilitating one-on-one mentorship programs, and implementing vocational training grants that mutually benefit the university and companies. Additionally, discussions touched upon courses tailored for entrepreneurs, such as a Master of Corporate Governance program for business leaders, and the possibility of arranging study tours and corporate study tours.

Both PUMM and UTAR recognized the significance of mentorship in creating a conducive environment for graduates entering the entrepreneurial sphere. The importance of startup funding was also emphasized during the meeting. To streamline the internship process, discussions included establishing a set of SOPs for internships, which encompass all needed aspects. In an effort to reach a wider audience, UTAR pledged to promote the collaborative event through the PUMM App, and the inclusion of internship registration on PUMM platform, further facilitating student-industry connections.

Special thanks go to Eric Lim, the Bureau Director of Young Entrepreneurs, for spearheading the organization of this event. The collaborative discussions between UTAR and PUMM underscore their joint dedication to fostering the growth of entrepreneurial talent and creating invaluable opportunities for students to excel in the dynamic business landscape.

Among the notable delegates present from UTAR were UTAR President, Ir. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Finance, Dr. Au Yong Hui Nee, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy and Management, Low Chin Kian, Head of the Department of Soft Skill and Competency, Fook Oi Yee, Lee Wan Poh, Kong Pui Ling, Lee Yan Yin, and Lai Soon Onn.

Participants included PUMM National President Tan Lay Seong, Vice President Dato Teh, Secretary-General Daniel Dea, Bureau Director of Young Entrepreneur Eric Lim, Bureau Director of Sponsorship Nick Tan, Bureau Committee Michael Koh, and Brandon Teh.


【青创会拜访拉曼大学就青年创业展开深入讨论】

2023年6月30日,马来西亚创业促进会(青创会;PUMM)青年创业发展局到访拉曼大学(UTAR),双方就合作事宜展开了富有成效的讨论。此次访问是青创会与拉曼大学促进合作的重要一步。

会谈期间,先由拉曼大学校长拿督尤芳达教授代表拉曼大学欢迎青创会的到来。青创会全国总会长陈礼祥紧接着向拉曼大学介绍了青创会的使命和愿景,并强调了青创会在赋能青年创业者方面许下的重大承诺。他强调了培养创业精神和营造支持性生态系统,以帮助年轻的商业领袖蓬勃发展的重要性。

讨论重点包括探索青创会与拉曼大学之间潜在的合作领域。提出了几项建议,包括组织创业家演讲和课程、提供实习和工业培训机会、邀请青创会会员为毕业生提供讲座、为学生提供软技能培训、推动一对一导师计划,并实施互惠的职业培训资助计划,既能惠及大学也惠及企业。此外,讨论也涵盖为企业家量身定制的课程、连同拉曼大学组织参观学习和企业拜访、创业资金的重要性、和实习生招收的标准操作程序(SOP)等方面。为了触达更广泛的受众,青创会和拉曼大学也将善用应用程序推广合作活动,并在青创会平台上开设实习注册,进一步促进学生与各企业的联系。

特别感谢青年创业者发展局局长林敬捷组织了此次会面。青创会与拉曼大学的合作讨论体现了双方共同致力于培养创业人才、为大学生提供卓越商业机会的精神。
